UX\UI Case Study: Designing a landing page for a Finance Event
--
Disclaimer
This Case Study was done as a cohort assignment for 10kdesigners. It’ll walk you through my process, experience, and learning from the project. This is a made-up project.
Introduction
In our second assignment, we were asked to design a landing page for an upcoming event of our choice i.e a conference, workshop, webinar, etc., for a startup/company or a made-up brand.
The goal of the assignment was to practice visual design and get hands-on experience of going through the design process. It was a challenging assignment because the niches given were so broad there was a wide variety of possibilities
Niche
I was given the finance niche for this project.
Getting Started
Firstly I decided to break down the whole process into small steps, to help me stay on track. But those processes were in a loop. Here is the design process that I followed:
Research → IA → Wireframing →Visual Design→Prototyping
Research
This project started by looking for inspiration to get a general idea about the general structure, layout, and elements to be included in the event landing page.
Information Architecture
Once I had gathered enough information that need to be shown on the landing page I moved toward the IA.
Wireframes
Once I had my IA in place I started sketching out my wireframes. I always start with paper wireframes because I find it easy to make changes and iterate on them compared to high-fidelity wireframes.
Final Visuals
Learnings
This assignment helped me understand and learn some important factors in designing :
- Organized my work making sure I have enough research before beginning with designs.
- It is important to find the right inspiration for your Visual Design.
- Iteration plays an important role so does feedback.
